  25. 1. OVERVIEW         
  26.  
  27. WinLock protects your Microsoft Windows and LAN 
  28. environment from unauthorized users. The easy to 
  29. use security features locks Windows at start up, 
  30. on demand, and automatically when your away from 
  31. your desk. When locked all mouse and keyboard 
  32. activity is restricted. Intruders are met with 
  33. a flashing red screen, an audible alarm, and 
  34. deterrent messages. The security audit trail 
  35. provides you with a record of unauthorized 
  36. password attempts. Your Windows environment 
  37. remains secure even when your PC is rebooted 
  38. from floppy. Since, WinLock is compatible with 
  39. most commercially available screen savers you 
  40. can enable your favorite screen saver without 
  41. locking your system. WinLock provides an 
  42. additional level of security to any Novell, 
  43. LAN Manager, or Banyan network.

  46. How to register WinLock
  47.          
  48. If you like WinLock and you use it on your PC,

  58. We will send you a codeword and 
  59. License-To-Use authorizing you to 
  60. continue using WinLock. We can also 
  61. inform you of new versions and 
  62. enhancements.

  65. 3. STARTING WINLOCK         
  66.          
  67. Activating WINLOCK.EXE will start the program.  
  68. When starting WINLOCK.EXE, the WinLock program 
  69. will automatically create a WINLOCK directory 
  70. on your C: drive and the correct files will 
  71. be loaded into it. 
  72.  
  73. WinLock will also add "C:\WINLOCK\WINLOCK.EXE" 
  74. to the "run=" command in your WIN.INI file.  
  75. This allows WinLock to automatically start up 
  76. every time you start Windows 3.0, to give you 
  77. maximum security.

  79. When WinLock is first executed, you will be 
  80. prompted for your first password. Type (and retype) 
  81. your password.  DO NOT FORGET YOU PASSWORD, 
  82. WRITE IT DOWN AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE.  
  83. If you lose or forget your password, you 
  84. must remove WinLock from your system and 
  85. reinstall. (Please see item 8. If you forget your
  86. password.)

  88. WinLock must be running in order for the screen 
  89. to lock.  You can tell it is running by the WinLock 
  90. "safe" icon at the bottom of the screen.

  93. 4. ENTERING FIRST PASSWORD

  95. - Point the mouse on PASSWORD field         
  96. - Single click         
  97. - Type in password         
  98. - Press TAB key         
  99. - Retype password in RETYPE PASSWORD field         
  100. - Click on OK         
  101. - Do not forget password; write it down

  104. 5. SETTING TIMER         
  105.          
  106. - Point and click on the WinLock icon.
  107. - Point and click on menu item "Control Panel..." 
  108. - Type in your password, then press the OK button
  109. - The WinLock Control dialog box will appear
  110. - Click on down-arrow in TIMER field         
  111. - Select number of minutes before locking

  114. 6. CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD         
  115.          
  116. - Point and click on the WinLock icon.
  117. - Point and click on menu item "Control Panel..." 
  118. - Type in your password, then press the OK button
  119. - The WinLock Control dialog box will appear
  120. - Press the Password button
  121. - Point the mouse on OLDPASSWORD field         
  122. - Single click         
  123. - Type in old password         
  124. - Press TAB key         
  125. - Type in new password in NEWPASSWORD field         
  126. - Press TAB key         
  127. - Retype new password in RETYPE PASSWORD field         
  128. - Click OK         
  129. - Do not forget new password

  132. 7. LOCK SCREEN NOW

  134. - Point and click on the WinLock icon.
  135. - Point and click on menu item "Lock..."
  136. or 
  137. - Point and click on the WinLock icon.
  138. - Press the right button on your mouse.

  141. 8. IF YOU FORGET YOUR PASSWORD         
  142.          
  143. - Turn off your PC         
  144. - Turn on PC         
  145. - Before your PC loads windows, press Ctrl-C (or you         
  146. can just reboot your PC from a floppy instead of         
  147. the above three steps).         
  148. -  At the DOS prompt, type "DEL C:\WINLOCK\*.*" [ENTER]        
  149. -  Restart Windows, type "WIN" [ENTER]         
  150. -  Windows will try to start WinLock, but will give an         
  151. error message instead.         
  152. - Now you must re-install WinLock

  155. 9. DELETING WINLOCK FROM YOUR SYSTEM         
  156.          
  157. - Click once on WinLock "safe" icon         
  158. - Select "CLOSE"         
  159. - Execute editor         
  160. - Bring up the WIN.INI file         
  161. - Edit the file by deleting the         
  162. "C:\WINLOCK\WINLOCK.EXE" from the run=         
  163. command line. NOTE: do not remove "run=".         
  164. - Delete all files under the C:\WINLOCK directory         
  165. - Delete the C:\WINLOCK directory
